Invisalign is a popular treatment option that straightens teeth without the wires and brackets used with traditional braces. The system uses a series of clear, removable appliances called aligners, Invisalign is virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth!
The system uses advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology to depict a complete treatment plan, from the initial position of teeth to the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made with exact calculations to gradually shift teeth into place. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Aligners are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the appropriate placement of controlled force to shift teeth. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, until the final position is achieved. Aligners should be removed only to eat, brush and floss.
Treatment time can take anywhere from six to 12 months, based on specific patient needs.
